A CO2 laser can’t mark metal by itself – a fiber laser is the tool for that – but you can spray laser marking ink onto the metal first, then laser on a design and wipe away the rest of the ink. The CO2 laser reacts with the ink to leave at least a semi-permeant design on the metal.
